PopCon: Cosplay Parade Drop-In

For everyone. Show off your cosplay and costumes and join the cosplay parade. PopCon is sponsored by IPPL Foundation & Friends.

All cosplayers and visitors in costume must comply with the following. Any individual not meeting the following guidelines will be informed, given the opportunity to comply, if possible, or asked to leave the property. Returning to the event will be based on compliance and the nature of the issue. All IPPL staff decisions are final.

  • Ask and get consent before touching or taking a picture of someone’s costume.

  • Keep all personal belongings with you at all times and do not leave them unattended.

  • Staff may ask any cosplayer to remove or stow any element of their costume for any reason, including masks, prop weapons, props, or accessories. Weapons, including prop weapons, are not allowed.

  • Be aware of the space of your cosplay and props used at all times, for your safety, the safety of others, and the safety of your costume. Refrain from performing acrobatics, such as flips, cartwheels, or somersaults.

  • Costumes and all props should not impede your or others' movement around you. Costumes must fit through a standard doorway. Do not block walkways, doors, elevators, and stairs.

  • All cosplay must be appropriate for a family environment.  Paint and/or pasties are not a costume. If your costume is deemed too revealing, you will be asked to cover up or change.

  • Costumes must not be confusable in appearance to real-life law enforcement, emergency services, or military uniforms, and must not be disrespectful or offensive to individuals, cultures, or religions in any way. This includes messages on clothing as well as costumes. No signs offering services or making requests to be hugged or touched can be part of the costume.

  • Shoes are required.

  • No live steel or sharp edges are allowed. Metal props with no points or blades are acceptable.

  • Costumes may not include smoke, odors, or fog.

  • Costumes and cosplays may incorporate audio or lighting elements. Sounds and lights must be able to be turned off easily if they become disruptive.

  • Indian Prairie Public Library, its employees, and volunteers are not responsible for damage incurred to your costume.
