Online - We Tell You What To Think: How Social Media Influencers Craft Political Narratives

The upcoming presidential election could be one of the most crucial in the history of the U.S. As more people turn to social media for news and information about politics, influencers for conservative and liberal ideologies are trying their best to control the narrative the general public is exposed to. We will examine social media influencers for both sides and the narrative associated with each side to better understand how the public understands the current political landscape.

Dr. Sabryna Cornish earned her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A former journalist, Cornish studies new media and its impact on society. Her current research focuses on social media and politics. She teaches speech communication at the College of DuPage and media studies courses at North Central College.
